GHRP-6
Overview
A synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that stimulates the anterior pituitary via GHS-R1a receptor activation. GHRP-6 produces significant GH release and also potently stimulates appetite through ghrelin-mimetic activity in hypothalamic feeding centers.
Mechanism of Action
It increases gastric motility and has cytoprotective effects on gastric and cardiac tissue through NO-mediated pathways..
Research Summary & Key Findings
Robust GH-releasing activity confirmed in multiple clinical studies with dose-dependent responses. Notable appetite-stimulating effect limits its use in weight management contexts. Research in Cuba demonstrated cardioprotective and gastroprotective effects. Synergistic with CJC-1295 and other GHRH analogs for enhanced GH pulsatility.
Clinical Status
GHRP-6 is in the investigational stage. While preclinical and early-phase data exist, it has not received regulatory approval for clinical use in the United States.
