Ecnoglutide

Subcutaneous injection

Overview

Ecnoglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist peptide designed for once-weekly subcutaneous administration. It acts by enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, reducing glucagon levels, and delaying gastric emptying to improve glycemic control and promote weight loss.

Mechanism of Action

The extended half-life is achieved through structural modifications that resist enzymatic degradation and renal clearance..

Research Summary & Key Findings

Phase 2 trials in adults with type 2 diabetes have demonstrated reductions in HbA1c and body weight consistent with the GLP-1 agonist class. Safety data showed a typical profile of gastrointestinal adverse events. Further development is needed to establish positioning relative to existing long-acting GLP-1 therapies.

Clinical Status

In Clinical Trials

Ecnoglutide is currently undergoing clinical trials. It is not yet FDA-approved and is available only through clinical research settings or investigational protocols.
